Photo Essay - Sunrise

For this assignment, I took sunrise photos over the period of about an hour. I arrived at my location at around 7:20am, when first light broke the scene. I stayed there and took well over one hundred photographs until around 8:15am. It was a very chilly morning, so I did sit in my warm car, constantly rolling the window up and down. I didn't use a tripod, but rather used the grids on my screen to align the image using one focal point: the tree on the left side. It was very prominent in my view throughout the morning.
This image is made up of 90 individual photos, using a piece of each to fill out a grid. I think I would try different ways to do the color variation within this piece.
The overall theme to me within this project is how fast time goes, or how one seemingly simply moment, passes by just like that. A sunrise goes by very quick if you're not careful. One second it's pitch black, the next, the sun is over the horizon and sunrise has passed. I think it can relate to how much of our simple and repetitive moments will someday pass us by. Another example--aging, a person doesn't realize how quick people age until they look back to reflect on a moment that really did feel like yesterday. Kids grow up so fast; looking back even six months can be a "jumpscare" to how much time has passed.
There were some moments where I was waiting, kinda bored, for the next opportunity to take a photo-- gotta space them out. And other moments I was surprise 3 minutes had passed so fast. Taking the time to do something "slower" was different as well. Had to have patience for it.
