Photomontage

For this project I did the photomontage. I drove down some backroads by my apartment up north and kinda drove until I found a good landscape spot. Taking photos out in certain public areas makes me slightly nervous, mostly due to me being alone. I took a few photos going from left to right, having to move forward a bit and redoing some since my car was in the way. And just as I got back inside my car, another one started pulling up on the road behind me, so I knew I had to hurry up and drive. I'm sure they wouldn't have approached me, but I didn't like the idea of them being like "what is this girl doing on the side of the road."

This landscape presents a typical South Dakota scene. Flat plains, cut corn, and wide open skies. To us Midwesterners, this feels like boring, everyday life. Nothing special, it's a dirt road in the middle of nowhere. To those who aren't from the area, like my southern family, the wide open plains are amazing. Seeing the vast sky and flat land for miles is not common where their from. They have hundreds of trees and hills that hide the sky and narrow the distance of land seen.

The photomontage creates a different viewing of our everyday landscape and captures the viewer's eye more than the original image would.
